Using both my skillset in Computer Science, specifically algorithms and theory, as well as in power, I plan on pursuing the up and coming research area of algorithms for modern power systems, focusing on improving the security, efficiency, and reliability of the modern power grid. After obtaining a doctorate degree, industry research and development is where I would like to end up, enabling me to work on cutting edge technologies and contributing to solving the energy crisis at hand.

My goal is to work with the implementation and operation of smart grid technology, which will improve the reliability of the electric grid. I would like to continue working at an ISO or with a utility company, where I could help plan for future electricity needs, integrate the new energy sources with the grid, and monitor the operations of the grid.
