New ECSE Faculty: Derya Malak, Tianyi Chen, Amar Khoukhi
Derya Malak, Tianyi Chen, and Amar Khoukhi join ECSE Department

 ECSE is happy to welcome three outstanding new faculty in fall 2019:

 

Derya Malak (Assistant Professor): Derya received her B.S. from Middle East Technical University and M.S. from Koҫ University in Turkey, both in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.  She received her Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin in 2017 and was a post-doctoral researcher in the ECE Department at MIT for the last two years.  Derya’s field of research is in communication and networks, with specific interest in network resource utilization and performance optimization.  

Tianyi Chen (Assistant Professor): Tianyi received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of Minnesota in 2019, and his M.S. from the same department in 2016.  His B.S. degree is from Communication Science and Engineering, Fudan University, China, 2014.  Tianyi’s area of research lies at the intersection of IoT and machine learning, addressing communication and resource allocation in cloud and edge computing in highly distributed networks.   

Amar Khoukhi (Senior Lecturer): Amar was an Associate Professor in the Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering Department in the Higher College of Technology, Dubai, UAE since 2016.  He has taught at DeVry College (2013-2016), New York City College of Technology (2014-2016) and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) (2008-2013).  He received a Doctorate of Engineering in Computer Engineering at Paris Tech School of Engineering in 1991 and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Montreal in 2007.  Amar has conducted research projects in the planning and control of parallel robots and modeling and control related to oil and gas systems
