Dr. Giannakis's general interests span the areas of communications, networking and signal processing, estimation and detection theory, time-series analysis, and system identification. Areas of past research have included (poly)spectral analysis, wavelets, cyclostationary, and non-Gaussian signal processing with applications to sensor arrays and image processing. Current research focuses on complex-field and network coding, cooperative wireless communications, cognitive radios, cross-layer designs, mobile ad hoc networks, and wireless sensor networks.
