Abstract

In this seminar, I will talk about my teaching and research interests and present a case example of my research; multi objective motion planning of robot manipulators. The objective criteria include time, energy, an several constraints of singularity avoidance, redundancy resolution and task requirements. This approach had been applied to serial, parallel, and mobile robots as well as a group of cooperative mobile robots. The second area of research is reservoir characterization and petroleum engineering using hybrid soft computing algorithms. Various Implementations on identifying parameters such as viscosity, permeability, rate of penetration, using different hybrid learning techniques and methods had been performed and results are very encouraging.

In teaching, I have a large experience in the areas of control systems, robotics and computational  intelligence working and interacting with diverse and multi-cultural student populations. The presentation includes an undergraduate research course developed and taught to senior standing students. The course design, implementation, outcomes and assessment are described and discussed

Amar  Khoukhi received an Advanced  Diploma of University Studies in Operation Research from Decision Mathematic Institute of University Paris IX Dauphine in 1985, an Engineering Doctorate from Paris Tech National School of Engineering, Paris in 1991 and obtained a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Polytechnic Montreal in June 2007.

Over the last several years, he developed and taught many courses including classroom and labs in control systems, robotics, and computational intelligence and worked with great departments and universities such as Mechanical Eng. Polytechnic Montreal, Systems Engineering Dept. KFUPM, Saudi Arabia, Mechanical Eng. of the New York city College of Technology and Mechatronics Eng. of HCT, Dubai.

He also had been involved in several research projects as Principal investigator and co-investigator in the fields of soft computing, robotics and petroleum engineering, funded by NSERC Canada, CNRS France, and KACST in Saudi Arabic: He published 5 patents and more than 100 international peer-reviewed journal and conference papers. Dr. Khoukhi is a senior member of IEEE and Emerald Literacy Association
