Prof. Luigi Vanfretti, head of ALSETLab from the Department of Electrical, Computer, and Systems Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnical Institute led a successful workshop hosted by the McMaster Institute for Energy Studies (MIES) at McMaster University. Dr. Vanfretti, along with PhD Candidates, Giuseppe Laera and Manuel Navarro Catalan, instructed the MIES team on developing cyberphysical models of intersecting domains, including thermal, electrical and fluid systems using the Modelica modeling language.
The workshop covered programmatic and graphical modeling of coupled systems; simulation of reconfigurable models; developing models using the Modelica Standard Library; integrating Modelica with Python using the Dymola-Python API and; using the Functional Mockup Interface for Co-Simulation and Model Export with examples in MATLAB.
This workshop was supported in part by Dassault Systèmes and MathWorks for providing trial licenses for Dymola and MATLAB.
