ECSE Faculty Prof. Michael Shur appointed Senior member of URSI

ECSE Faculty Prof. Michael Shur been appointed Senior member of URSI (The International Union of Radio Science). The International Union of Radio Science (Union Radio-Scientifique Internationale), a non-governmental and non-profit organisation under the International Council for Science, is responsible for stimulating and co-ordinating, on an international basis, studies, research, applications, scientific exchange, and communication in the fields of radio science, according to their website.

A senior member of USRI has a PhD (or equivalent degree); an MSc (or equivalent degree) is acceptable only with at least five years of research experience or equivalent professional experience in radio science, has at least ten publications in any radio science discipline to demonstrate technical or scientific competence, at least five of which must be in peer-reviewed journals; the remainder may be papers given at major international scientific conferences and is involved in USCI Flagship meetings regularly. Senior membership is by invitation or application only.

Prof. Shur is the Patricia W. and C. Sheldon Roberts Professor of Solid State Electronics in ECSE and Applied Physics and Astronomy. He joined RPI in 1996, and is heavily involved in the global engineering community. His research focuses on Solid State Devices, Semiconductor Devices and Integrated Circuits.
