ECSE Hosts Open House for Rensselaer Medalists

 On the morning of Saturday, September 7, 2019, ECSE held its annual open house for recipients of the Rensselaer Medal, a prestigious and generous scholarship offered to selected high school students.  Department faculty, students, and staff welcomed visiting medalists and their families to the newly renovated communal space and answered questions about the range of subjects included in the term “Electrical, Computer, and Systems Engineering.” Also represented were student groups (Rensselaer Electric Vehicle and the honor society Eta Kappa Nu .) Several ECSE labs and centers hosted visitors for demonstrations by current RPI students. Visitors were invited to the following: Analysis Laboratory for Synchrophasor and Electrical Energy Technology (ALSET); the Embedded Control Lab (LITEC); the Integrated Photonics Lab for Communication and Machine Learning (IPCLM); the Center for Automated Technologies & Systems (CATS); and the Lighting Enabled Systems & Applications Smart Conference Room (LESA.)
