ECSE Welcomes New Faculty: Muhsin Celik, Zheyu Zhang

Muhsin Celik and Zheyu Zhang join the ECSE Department in July 2023.

The ECSE Department welcomes two outstanding new faculty: Professor of Practice Muhsin Celik and Assistant Professor Zheyu Zhang. 

Dr. Muhsin Celik received Ph.D. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC, and B.S. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey.  As a technologist, Muhsin has over 25-year experience in the semiconductor manufacturing industry with roles in technology development, program and executive management.  He has worked at Motorola/Freescale Semiconductor, STMicroelectronics, and latest as a Senior Director at GlobalFoundries. He worked at the Albany Nanotech Center as part of the IBM Alliance and served on the Industry Advisory Board of SUNY Poly College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering. 

Dr. Zheyu Zhang received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China.  He was a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Tennessee Knoxville from 2015-2018,  a Lead Power Electronics Engineer at GE Research from 2018-2019, and the Warren H. Owen – Duke Energy Assistant Professor at Clemson 2019-2023.  Zheyu’s research is in wide bandgap power electronics technology with applications in electrified transportation, space power, and renewable energy systems.  He was the recipient of 2021 IEEE IAS Andrew W. Smith Outstanding Young Member Achievement Award and 2022 NASA Early Career Faculty Award.
