The ECSE Department is excited to welcome Prof. Abouzeid as our new department head effective Jan 1st, 2026.
Prof. Abouzeid has been a valued member of the ECSE faculty since 2001 and is an accomplished scholar in networked and intelligent systems, with experience spanning academia, industry, and national service. He has held leadership roles at the National Science Foundation, contributed to shaping major research programs, and founded WiFiUS – an international, NSF-supported research institute connecting scholars across the U.S. and Finland. His record reflects intellectual depth, collaborative leadership, and a strong commitment to the ECSE mission in education, research, and service.
