James Onyejizu is a Ph.D. candidate in the Electrical, Computer, and Systems Engineering department at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and a member of the Light Enabled Systems and Applications (LESA) Research Center. His research focuses on developing robust and privacy-preserving multimodal sensor fusion models for occupant-centric control and optimization in smart buildings. James holds a B.S. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and an M.S. in Computer and Systems Engineering from RPI. He has extensive experience working with large-scale datasets, advanced machine learning techniques, and cloud computing platforms such as Google Cloud and AWS. He is a recipient of the 2024 ACM BuildSys SIG travel grant award.
